Titus Andronicus

Before it was the name of an indie punk rock band from New Jersey, Titus Andronicus was first the title of William Shakespeare’s earliest, and by far bloodiest, tragedy. Which, according to Pitchfork, is exactly what makes it the perfect name for a band as “violent, overblown, and irreverent” as this one. Originally gaining notoriety for their raucous, beer-fueled live shows, their speed-of-light, screaming punk anthems have garnered them hard-won respect from the industry’s finest. The band’s second full-length album, The Monitor, was released in the spring of 2010. Since it’s release, Rolling Stone named the band one of the seven best new bands of 2010. Titus Andronicus has spent 2011 on an extensive cross-country tour.
