With members hailing from both New York and Philadelphia, The Walkmen rose from the ashes of Jonathan Fire*Eater and have been making razor-sharp albums and touring since 2000. Preferring vintage instruments over modern, this aesthetic is no more apparent than their ubiquitous song “We’ve Been Had” which is instantly recognizable thanks to the song being in Saturn commercials and movies. Hamilton Leithauser brings vocals to the band that are utterly unique and a perfect fit for the organs/keyboards, jazzy guitars and powerful rhythm section. Comparisons range wildly from U2, The Cure to The Strokes. Bottom line is this band hasn’t toured as much in recent years and their 80/35 appearance is quite a coup and not to be missed.
