Here in Iowa, fans call them crazy—as in crazy good—and consistently line up for The Poison Control Center’s supercharged brand of indie/pop/rock. The 80/35 veterans are known for their legendary on-stage somersaults, jump-kicks and riffs played on the horizontal.
The Central Iowa-based band has performed with the likes of Buddy Guy, The Flaming Lips, and Pavement, to whom they’re often compared, and won’t fail to deliver one of their signature energetic live performances.
Over the past year the band has gotten extensive attention while touring across the country, almost non-stop. Pitchfork recently said of PCC, “clearly this is a band worth getting familiar with.” If you aren’t familiar with them, you better get to know these guys. They will release their next album, Strangler Ballet in June on Afternoon Records.
Performing Saturday, July 2 at 7:15pm on the Independence Stage
