Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band

From Man Man’s kazoos and spoons, Railroad Earth’s pennywhistle, to Flaming Lips’ smoke spewing megaphone, 80/35 festivalgoers are no stranger to band’s using unconventional or even bizarre musical “instruments.” But a band from rural Indiana will bring a few firsts to 80/35 this year: the washboard, bottleneck slides and five-gallon buckets.

Warped Tour and Austin City Limits veterans Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band will bring their big damn foot-stomping country blues sound to Des Moines. Led by the Reverend on the finger-style resonator guitar and lead vocals, he is accompanied by his wife “Washboard” Breezy Peyton on washboard and vocals, and distant cousin Aaron “Cuz” Persinger on drums and bucket. Last year, the group released their second full-length album The Wages, and the video for their song “Clap Your Hands” has over 200,000 views on YouTube.

Performing Saturday, July 2 at 1:30pm on the Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Main Stage
