Dawes

Straight out of the Laurel Canyon area of Los Angeles, California, Dawes stride away from the typical lo-fi punk rock that comes out of the area in favor of some authentic Americana music. The band’s first record, North Hills, on ATO Records was recorded to analog tape, which garnered praise by Rolling Stone for the “authentically vintage” sound. Dawes cranks up their tunes for their live performances, turning them into anthems reminiscent of Springsteen or The Hold Steady. The band recently made their television debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and are gaining national attention and buzz. With beautiful harmonies and infectious choruses, Dawes brings their west coast folk rock to 80/35 this summer.

Saw Dawes twice at SXSW 2010 – definitely one of the highlights. They are not to be missed – debut CD is packed with great tunes and harmony vocals.
