Outside the music, there is going to be a ton of stuff to check out at 80/35. Here’s some of the stuff you can expect to find.
YPC Do More Village
A hub for showcasing all things Des Moines featuring interactive exhibits and unique demonstrations, all provided by local organizations. Non-profits include PEAKS For Poverty, Central Iowa Shelter, Iowa Shares, Art Noir, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, Gateway Church, Science Center of Iowa, and VSA Iowa.
DIY Craft Fair
Browse for purses, jewelry, and many handmade goods on Saturday from 12pm-6pm. Vendors include Papercake Creations, Jolene Schultz, Dank Artistry, Where It’s At, bejoyful for Obsidiansoup, By Kim, BeAtomicBeauty & Bush League Buttons, and Stella James Handmade.
Green Zone
We will highlight local resources and services providing central Iowans with choices for green and healthy living. The Green Zone will be available on Sunday from 12pm – 6pm. Vendors include Urban Ambassadors, Recycle Me Iowa, Green RU, Bryan Sanford (Funk Shui recycled sculpture), and Rain Barrels of Iowa.
Dahl’s Kids Zone
Bring down the kiddies for an inflatable play area and several interactive activities from 12pm-6pm on Saturday and Sunday. Some of the activities include the Sparkle Hoop Dance Group teaching Hula Hoop tricks and Architect Mel Shivvers conducting his Children’s Creative Activities where kids can create a 3-dimensional project on a cardboard base. Meet ‘N Greets
Meet and get autographs from 80/35 bands. Schedule and participating bands TBA.
Merch Tent
Official 80/35 merch (including t-shirts, posters, tote bags) and band merch will be available for purchase.
Live Painting and Art Installation
Art Noir and Van Holmgren will be re-purposing banners from previous 80/35 festivals. Attendees can watch local artists live paint and then view them on display throughout the festival grounds. Art Noir’s tent will give festival goers a chance have their hand in creating a live painting and post missed connections to each other over the two days.
Food
A wide variety of food vendors, including Café di Scala (pork/veggie sliders, Italian pastries), Café Fuzion (chicken on a stick, crab rangoons), Campbells Concessions, Inc. (footlong corndogs), Gusto Pizza Co. (pizza-by-the-slice, cannolli, Italian soda), Hardenbrook Concessions (corndogs, beef/chicken/veggie grinders), Hawaiian Grill (Hawaiian chicken and rice, spam musubi), Just Squeezed Juice (various flavored lemonade), Los Primos Grill (fajitas, tacos, nachos, rice bowls), Mao’s Homemade Eggrolls (eggrolls, chicken/beef teriyaki dish, Asian sausage), Mediterranean Karam’s Grill (marinated steak/chicken kabobs), Mulvihill Concessions (pork chop on a stick, Hawaiian pork kabob, ribbon fries), Nadine and Dad Bar B Q (pulled pork sandwiches, turkey legs, brats), Papa John’s Pizza (pizza-by-the-slice, breadsticks), Pronto (sandwiches, desserts, slushies), Tropical Sno (Hawaiian shaved ice). Food prices will vary.
Beer and Wine
Ames-based Olde Main Brewing Co. will provide craft beer at the festival including Clone Pale Ale, Dinkey Wheat, Sodbuster Stout, Gryphonbrau Lager, and Hard Pressed Cider. Jasper Winery will also have Iowa wines available including La Crescent (crisp white), All-Night White (sweet white), Behind the Shed Red (dry red), Lucy Lane (sweet red), and Jasper Winery Sangria. Beer and wine will sell for $5 each or 5 for $20.
