Enter your favorite Iowa band to win a coveted spot in the 2009 80/35 lineup alongside iconic acts including Public Enemy, Ben Harper, Matisyahu, and more.
The Greater Des Moines Music Coalition and Des Moines Metromix present the 80/35 Wild Card. One additional local emerging act will earn the right to take the stage this summer, playing for thousands of fans at the biggest music event in Iowa.
Nominate your favorite Iowa band online at desmoines.metromix.com from April 8-21. Be ready to include the band name, members’ names and ages, year formed, hometown, photos, a short band bio, phone and email information, music links and more.
Semi-finalists will be announced May 6. Voting will then begin for the top five finalists at desmoines.metromix.com, May 6-18. The top five finalists from the readers’ votes will be announced May 20 and will compete at the 80/35 Wild Card event in early June where music fans will decide the winner.
Last year 40 national, regional and local bands rocked four stages, playing for more than 30,000 music fans from across the country at 80/35. This year’s 80/35 will be held July 3 and 4 in downtown Des Moines.
80/35 is made possible by U.S. Cellular, Meredith Corporation, Olde Main Brewing Co., Greater Des Moines Partnership, WHO-TV, Des Moines Metromix, and Clear Channel. 80/35 was founded in 2008 by a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.
