80/35 Wild Card Finalists Announced, Voting Begins Wednesday

Ten Iowa bands will compete for a coveted spot in the 2009 80.35 lineup alongside iconic acts including Ben Harper and Relentless 7, Public Enemy, Broken Social Scene, and more. More than 35 acts submitted for the 80/35 Wild Card contest and now ten Iowa bands are announced as finalists.

Voting for these finalists will begin Wednesday, May 6 at desmoines.metromix.com through May 18. The top five finalists from the peoples’ votes will be announced May 20. These bands will compete at the 80/35 Wild Card event on June 10 at People’s Court where the music fans will decide the winner that will land the last slot on the 80/35 lineup.

Advance tickets are on sale now at IowaTix.com: $70 two-day pass, $35 Friday single day pass, and $45 Saturday single day pass. There will be a limited number of advance single day passes available.

    Disappointing?!? Wow. I would have to respectfully disagree. There are way too many bands I want to see, WAY too many bands that have never touched Iowa soil before, to be disappointed with this line-up, IMHO, of course.

    Umm, I wonder why The Beat Strings aren't on this list? I don't know any of these bands.

    80/35's lineup looks a little disappointing after last year. I'll probably go just to see Margot and ManMan.

    I'm disappointed that the BLB won't be playing again this year. They won the play-in last year!!!!
