80/35 Music Festival and Urban Dreams Partner Up to Give At-Risk Youth Exceptional Opportunity

The Greater Des Moines Music Coalition (DMMC) partners up with Urban Dreams, an inner city non-profit organization offering human service programs in the greater Des Moines area and Polk County, to transform tickets paid for by generous donors as an incentive to encourage at-risk youth volunteerism and involvement in community service.

Every $1000 donation rewards 20 at-risk youths who are involved in community service and acts as an incentive for young people to get involved and stay active doing service work and making positive choices.

Tickets to 80/35 gives these youth more motivation to connect with their community and explore opportunities to develop long-term volunteer commitments. Their experiences volunteering will create lasting impressions, build up work ethics and esteem, and encourage ongoing service as a mechanism for change–in their lives and communities.

80/35 is a two-day music festival held in downtown Des Moines, Iowa July 3 and 4, 2009. Globally known acts such as Ben Harper and Public Enemy are headlining the 2nd Annual festival, along with dozens of large-scale national and local acts. The all-ages festival features art, music, kid’s zone, a non-profit “Village” area, fireworks, food, drinks and more.

DMMC and Urban Dreams need help underwriting this program to foster the community teens’ growth by purchasing a block of donation tickets. Urban Dreams will distribute tickets at a special recognition ceremony prior to the festival. In addition, all sponsors will be recognized as a contributor to this unique program at the 80/35 festival.

Please contact Justin Schoen at Justin@desmoinesmc.com if interested in being a donor.
